Acai fruit
Acai berry is a small fruit that is found in the Amazon forest, it looks and also feels like a grape, it is one of the best source of anti oxidant, in fact it is also said that Acai, that is pronounced as “a-sigh-e” is the fruit that has the largest amount of antioxidant when compared to all the other fruits in the worlds. It has ten times the antioxidant that is present in grapes and twice the antioxidant that is present in blue berries. Other than being rich in antioxidant, Acai fruit is iron, protein, fiber etc. it has a high level of omega and the essential fatty acids, it also has a lot of mineral contents.
According to the national institute of cancer, there are studies and a substantial number of laboratory reports that show that antioxidants slow down and also possibly prevent the development of cancer. Antioxidants are those substances that help to protect the cells from “free radicals”, these free radicals are unstable molecules. These free radicals may also lead to cancer, the antioxidants present in Acai fruit thus helps to help prevent cancer.
Due to certain environmental factors such as prolonged exposure to radiation and due to active and passive smoking free radicals are formed, when these free radicals affect the DNA then it causes cancer. Acai berry has antioxidant called anthocyanin, this is the same type of anti oxidant which we find in red wine, and this is believed to have a good effect on the cardio vascular system. There are a lot of advantages it is believed that it helps to prevent blood clots, improve the circulation of blood, helps to combat cancer and also prevent artherosclerosis. The central anthocyanin that is found in Acai is cyaniding-3 glucoside, it is believed that this is 3.5 times more powerful than the prevailing anthocyanin that can be found in red wine. This fact has been proved in an ORAC analysis.
ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity. It helps us to determine the level of anti oxidant activity of a substance, on an average a person requires 1670 ORAC a day and the Acai fruit produces an ORAC level of 3871, which is more than double of what a person requires. The oleic acid that is present in Acai helps to promote a health heat and it also it also helps to protect the cancer causing action of oncogene. This has been found in a number of patients with breast cancer.
Acai has gained importance only recently, there are lots of other advantages associated with Acai, it is said to increase stamina, and also increase the sex drive, improved concentration and also improved vision.
