So many people today are stuck in a physical rut. They work at jobs that sit them behind desks that are stuck in cramped cubicles and give the body much to stress about from deadlines to reaching quotas. They come home to busy schedules and busy kids that make a person crash at any chance of sitting or laying down. With all this precious time spent doing things, people would be active and healthy, but they are not. We are so busy with work or transporting ourselves or others or getting things done that we do not get in any physical activity that is beneficial to the body. And because our lives are so busy the thought of exercising and fitness health gets postponed.
We need to realize that nothing we have or nothing we do today will be of any good if we do not live to enjoy it. So we must find time to fit exercise into the schedule. Exercise can be done numerous ways, but if we want to achieve health throughout our body, then a total body work out is needed and to do this we need fitness equipment. A variety of fitness equipment should be used in order to develop a work out that exercises different groups of the body. The benefits of exercise are a long list of things including losing weight, increase in strength, enhancement in appearance, preventing or reducing health conditions, energizing effects, increases movement and flexibility and a general better feeling to name just some. Medical research found that a person can appear up to ten years younger by effectively exercising and eating a well-balanced diet. That’s a great benefit by itself.
It used to be that quality exercise equipment used to be out of affordability for an average person to purchase for home use. That is no longer true, many forms of exercise equipment can be had at cost-friendly prices, especially true when you find a great used piece of equipment for next to nothing. The top fitness performers chosen to be used by most individuals are multi-gyms, barbells, rowing machines, exercise bikes, Swiss balls, punching bags, electronic counters, dumbbells, jump ropes, tread mills, balance boards, elliptical trainers, resistance bands and heart rate monitors. There of course are many, many more that a person can use as well. Here a a few ideas about why some of these fitness tools are used in exercise:
* The multi-gym includes adjustable elements that customize the work out for the individual on different types of exercises. Multi-gyms can work different areas of the body such as the arms, legs, chest, stomach, etc.
* Dumbbells and barbells are typically used in weight training exercises. Weights are added or are in permanent graduated levels on either long or short metal bars. The muscle groups usually effected through these tools are biceps, triceps, calf and thigh muscles, shoulders, and forearms.
* A rowing machine is used to work the pectoral and lower back muscles through a motion that simulates the motion used in rowing a boat.
* An exercise bike uses a form of friction or resistance to work the leg muscles through a stationary version of a bicycle.
* The Swiss ball is used for the training the body in balance and uses the stomach and back muscles. It is simply a ruggedly designed rubber ball.
* Punching bags are most often used for training boxers but others benefit from them to work the arms, shoulders, chest and back muscles.
* Resistance bands are a more recent addition to the everyday gym. They are strong elastic rubber bands used for exercising numerous muscles depending on the exercise being performed. Most often it exercises the quadriceps and deltoids.
As a starting point, people generally buy what they can afford, and as they get healthier and more fit, will make purchases on better quality fitness equipment or will add more variation in the equipment line-up. Used fitness equipment can be a great way to get the equipment at drastically reduced prices while still providing great exercise to the user. For people who can not afford the money or time needed to dedicate to a professional gym, then consider what exercise equipment will give you the most function available for the money willing to be used for the purchase. Start with whatever you can, at least its a start.
