Something that May Help you: Simple Definition of Weight Loss

You might never have even thought to ask what actually weight loss means. According to popular reference descriptions it is the reduction of body weight which results from the loss of body fluid, body fat, or lean body mass such as minerals or muscles.

Sometimes weight loss can occur without even trying. This might be the case when you take certain medications, or in the unfortunate event that you are suffering from some rare disease.

Healthy Weight Loss

The desire to lose weight can be accomplished in healthy ways. The most important aspect of course is to increase your fiber intake, which includes eating more fruits and vegetables.

As equally as important, you should consider drinking more fluids and reducing intake of saturated fats. You also need to cut down on processed sugars, alcohol, caffeine, etc.

Unhealthy Weight Loss

This usually occurs when people try to participate in some type of fad diet that only requires that you eat certain foods. This is my personal opinion but some of them out there are so ridiculous.

Take for example the three-day diet. Yes, you may be able to lose weight and it might even resemble slightly the concept of fasting.

This can have some health benefit. However, to expect it to be the “end all be all” solution to permanent weight loss is just plain old foolish and even dangerous. Again, that is my opinion and the point is to be careful.
