You may have seen the hit show The Biggest Loser. It gets pretty emotional sometimes doesn’t it? The process of attempting to reach your weight loss goals often produces a wide range of positive and negative feelings in contestants.
Often when the goals are reached it produces great joy in The Biggest Loser. It is often inspiring as TV viewers to watch others succeed at this, too. It can spark an ambitious spark in any obese individual watching from the sidelines.
However, you probably have noticed these TV contestants face five huge challenges:
1. They are “forced†to face facts-As each individual strives to become fit and trim they are forced to face many facts. This often can cause great emotional distress on the road to losing unwanted pounds.
2. They might be at a higher health risk or they might suffer depression or other psychological problems as a result of being obese. Furthermore, they may have a hard time separating their emotions from food, especially when under great distress.
3. Inability to make it (temporarily)-Of course, you always have the success stories of The Biggest Loser participants which have made history. However, not everyone meets every single expectation along the way. Why is that?
This is probably due to a variety of reasons, but the main one is the fact that reaching your ideal weight sometimes is a few moves forward and perhaps one or two steps backwards on occasion. Furthermore, perhaps they set way to unrealistic of goals in the first place.
4. Low self-image-Perhaps they are unable to celebrate even the loss of a half a pound in a week. They might not believe the scale or they might be down on themselves because they did not reach that two pound, five pound, or whatever daily, weekly, or monthly objectives they have set.
5. Lack of motivation-Although many of The Biggest Loser contestants make an attempt sometimes they just might not have any ambition to do what they need to do get rid of those excess pounds. This often is the case as they try to commit to a rigorous obstacle course workout plan.
6. Lack of faith-Perhaps they think of being slimmer as a fantasy that may never come true. Therefore, even if they want to look better and feel better they may not believe it can actually come to fruition. This may be part of the reason that they do not reach their ideal weight goals.
Sometimes even the most successful Biggest Losers face many ups and downs on this journey. However, that is okay as everyone is allowed to have bad days. The real goal is to not give up and the outcome is secondary-although very, very, important.
