Body Weight ConversionPeople in the United States and some parts of Canada tend to measure their body weight in terms of pounds. In other areas of the world where the metric system as not viewed as some sort of unwelcome alien invader, kilograms are usually the standard measure of measurement. Pounds are not the only odd unit of weight measurement, in some places in England people are still referred to as weighing so many stones. Now this may confuse the dieter reading weight loss material that comes from a country other than his own about the necessary body weight conversion. The equations listed below will help even the most confused person sort out conversions and figure out their body weight in the measurement with which they are most comfortable. To convert your body weight from stones to pounds, simply multiply the rate by fourteen, although why anyone outside of the United Kingdom would need this measurement is beyond me, unless they need to know the weight in pounds of some of the characters in the Canterbury tales. Now the opposite body weight conversion is just as simple to go from pounds to stone, divide the pound number. Giving your weight in stones at least makes it sound less then you really do. The most common weight measurement needed will be pounds to kilograms. It should be noted that a kilogram is not technically a unit of measurement, but a unit of mass. Because Newton’s are a unit of measurement only known to physics Geeks, the average person need not be concerned about how many Newton’s he weighs. Now the scientific babble has been gotten out of the way, of multiplying kilograms to pounds by 2.2. If the body weight conversion is from pounds to kilograms, dividing by 2.2 will give you the desired number. The first and second paragraphs will give you all you the numbers you are likely to ever need to figure out your body weight in a different measurement. Other conversions exist for things like pounds to gram or grams to stone but unless you are a math whiz, such body weight conversions are both sadistic and unnecessary. Because this must continue to fill at least 500 words however, if you want to convert you body weight into grams – remember that there are 1000 grams in a kilogram. If you've converted from pounds to kilograms and get that number. (At least it is impressive.) I can't imagine you'd need to go the other way unless someone has been giving you your weight in grams to make it seem like you really need to lose weight, but the metric system makes this conversion easy – from grams to kilograms divide by 1000. In most cases though, you will not need to worry about such body weight conversions, you will only need to work off the measurement system with which you are already most familiar. The math impaired may want to find someone else to do their calculations for them.
