Alarming rate of Child Obesity In America

Obesity has been a noteworthy health issue for so many years.  Most chronic adult health problems are increased by obesity.  There are so many emphases on the Weight loss programs, which have increased, a lot in American society, and workout gyms are available in almost every city in the nation.

Obesity has increased and is now not only affecting the adult population but it’s spreading to our children, as well in spite of the preventive measures. The rise of child obesity in America has become a major health concern.

Health officials have reported that even toddlers are beginning to show weight problems.  The main concern with child obesity in America is the future health problems these overweight children will face.

Health problems Related To Child Obesity

One of the most important consequences on health in obese children is their increased risk for diabetes.  Until recently, children who were diagnosed with diabetes had it due to their inability to produce the insulin needed by their bodies.  This is called as juvenile onset diabetes.

Now, young children are being diagnosed with what was formerly considered adult onset diabetes where the body is unable to produce enough insulin in comparison to the body size and diet consumed.  Diabetes is a grave health issue, but also has many complications, which are dangerous to life.  Problems caused due to obesity are cardiovascular diseases caused due to accumulation of fat in arteries.  The accumulation of fat proves to be a block for blood circulation and heart has to pump blood with a greater force, which increases the risk of heart attack

Included in these complications are high cholesterol, high blood pressure, kidney failure, as well as an increased risk of stroke and heart attacks.  Health problems, which used to be reserved for the adults are now becoming childhood illnesses.  Child obesity in America is causing lifelong health issues.

Economic problems due to Child Obesity In America

Extensive medical care is required by children who are obese and who develop complications due to that obesity for their entire life.  As they grow old, the seriousness of their health issues can cause their education to be affected due to lack of attendance in school, lack of concentration and decreased ability to learn.

This, in turn, will affect the ability for these children to be employable as they reach adulthood.  Between the major medical costs that obesity incurs, and the probable need for these people to be cared for by society, the costs become exorbitant.  Also obese people find it very difficult to get jobs, as employers prefer active and healthy people. Not going for work due to sickness can decrease your income and also lead to losing your job.

The nation as a whole needs to recognize that child obesity in America will become a major depletion to our country.  Americans need to get involved in finding appropriate solutions for the children who are facing this issue.

Summary: The first thing that adults need to do is to take measures for achieving weight control.  Adults providing good examples of healthy lifestyles can be the best way for children to learn. If you have bad eating habits, your children will also follow your bad habits. If you have good eating habits, your children will also follow your good habits. So unless you change yourselves, to expect your children to change is not right.
