Child Obesity Genetics is A Discussable Issue

Child obesity is generally related to over eating, but in most cases it is a hereditary problem. If your parents are having obesity, there is a high probability that you will also face the same consequences. So children should be careful if their parents are suffering from obesity because genes pass it to their children. Child obesity is a hereditary problem. If the parents are over weight, there is a high probability that their children would also be overweight. Children with overweight or obese parents have larger risks of obesity. In hereditary cases, both parent and children should follow the instructions of the doctor. It is a non-curable problem. So you can only take preventive measures to control it rather than avoiding it

Constant Check Ups

Your medical history can predict if your gene contain obesity problems and is it likely that you can pass it on to your children. You cannot correct this problem but definitely can take steps to prevent it. A number of preventive steps should be taken to avoid the child suffering from the obesity problems. From the initial stage, the child should be given an appropriate diet and should be stopped from over eating.

Also the child should be informed about the fact that he has hereditary obesity problem. So that he can take appropriate measures to keep himself healthy. Also he can maintain a chart of his weight and height and if any abnormalities are found, he can consult a doctor. There is a strong need to keep a watch on his weight so that things do not go out of control. So we can predict child obesity at an early stage.

Letting your child know

Knowing about a disease in advance may affect your mental status and you should explain it in a proper manner to your child. Your child should not feel embarrassed, as this will affect his mental and social status

Your child should me made aware of the consequences of obesity. Problems caused due to obesity are cardiovascular diseases caused due to accumulation of fat in arteries.  The accumulation of fat proves to be a block for blood circulation and heart has to pump blood with a greater force, which increases the risk of heart attack. Moderate exercise can also make you active and reduces risk of heart diseases

Take appropriate measures during puberty & pregnancy

Parents should take regular checkups on their children measuring their height and weight. If any distortions are found in the results, it should be taken seriously and appropriate measures should be taken. Children should be encouraged to join gyms and to do exercise at least 4 times a week. In case of pregnancy and puberty, obese people should take special concerns and inform the doctor earlier about the hereditary obesity problem. Doctors can then prescribe medicines according to that and not giving medicines, which cause side effects.

Summary: Also more focus has to be given on healthy eating rather than reducing on food. Just because to maintain a slim figure, girls tend to miss their meals which in turn affects their health. This can lead to malnutrition in children and cause a severe effect on their health. Children would not get necessary vitamins, minerals for the sake of not gaining weight.
