Dealing With Morbid Obesity in ChildrenBeing obese is last thing a child can ever ask for. However, the idea of morbid obesity in children goes much further than simply being overweight. It is something that can ruin a life and something that you should take care of at all costs, because there are innumerable affects that can be seen on the bodies, minds, and souls of the children affected. How Is It Caused? There are many things that cause morbid obesity in children but it is often a combination of things. With morbid obesity in children, it is usually a hereditary tendency towards being obese, coupled with some sort of illness or sickness that the child has that creates the situation for them to become morbidly obese. The first cause of obesity in children is genetics, and is unfortunately the one cause that cannot be completely prevented. If your parents are either overweight or obese, chances are that you will be prone to this condition as well. The question then becomes whether the increased risk of obesity comes from the actual genetic makeup or from the lifestyle factors that are learned from the parents throughout childhood. The second cause of obesity in children often stems from a sedentary lifestyle. Most people gain too much weight because they are taking in many more calories than they are burning. What Are The Effects? There are many effects of morbid obesity in children, and most of them are very serious. Besides for the social and emotional problems that are found with morbid obesity in children, they can also have great health risks that accompany their weight. Now, young children are being diagnosed with what was formerly considered adult onset diabetes where the body is unable to produce enough insulin in comparison to the body size and diet consumed. Diabetes is a grave health issue, but also has many complications, which are dangerous to life. Problems caused due to obesity are cardiovascular diseases caused due to accumulation of fat in arteries. The accumulation of fat proves to be a block for blood circulation and heart has to pump blood with a greater force, which increases the risk of heart attack What Treatments are available? There are many things that you can do to treat morbid obesity in children, and the first step is to see your doctor. There are special diets that your whole family should follow, and exercises need to be done as well. Your doctor can also find out what are the things that might be contributing to the obesity. These things can often be treated with drugs or other types of therapy. No matter what the result is, the fact remains that morbid obesity in children is something that is extremely hazardous for the health and well being of the children. Summary: If your child is morbidly obese, you need to take him or her to a doctor right away and, if you get little results, you should find a way to get a second opinion. it is something that you have to figure out how to fix before it really damages the health of your child.
