Food Intolerance and Weight Gain

Food intolerance can be described as a sensitive reaction to various food items which may or may not be related to the immune system or food poisoning. It is observed in a recent research by the nutritional experts that many indivduals are of the firm belief that they have food intolerance. This belief has led to the wrong diagnosis of the fact. The British Nutrition Foundation declared in a recent press release that one of every five British now thinks that they have some kind of food intolerance and allergy. It is also regarded as the root of all sorts of health problems including spots, weight gain, stomach upsets and headaches. In some of the cases in the recent pass it has been observed that intolerance to dairy products is a frequent diagnosis. Sufferers from such kind of intolerance are often told to cut these food products consisting of such high calorie level from their regular diet. Nowadays people seem to be using food allergies and intolerance as an excuse for weight gain. The Foundation hoever holds the belief that only a fraction of these actually have any sort of intolerant reaction to food types. Fewer than even 2% actually holds such type of food intolerance where the majority is just misleaded and to them it is also the trendiest thing to boast of. One of the nutrition scientists also holds the danger of such misdiagnosis. He claims that the so-called patients are tricked by large sums of money and also by dangerous diet advice. If people are constantly adviced to cut down their diet then they are likely to loose their overall balance of the diet and that is no good.

But it is very much possible that food intolerance can contribute to gainage of weight. During this time once can definitely opt for an elimination diet like avoiding the culprit food completely for a span of two weeks to one month. After that, the changes can be monitored and then the food can be reintroduced in the diet chart. Food intolerance can really make one feel ill and the victims often crave for those food items for which they are intolerant. They are also likely to create sensitiveness for themselves if they go on having the same food everyday. If one is food intolerant then a delayed immune response occurs in the body and in turn the immune system stops functioning regularly. This food tolerance can stretch over a span of several hours or days after the offending food is digested. The symptoms of food intolerances are many. They include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), ulcerations, skin eruptions, ear problems, colic, eczema, tiredness, arthritis, constipation, lethargy, bloating, migraines, fibromyalgia, diarrhoea, psoriasis and many more. They can also have direct effect on the assimilation of nutrients, weight management and digestive function. There are three kinds of food tolerance tests. These tests are also defined as essential biochemical analysis which has been done for many years in various research centers across the globe and the success ratio was also on the higher side.
