No dieting meals

When seeking to lose weight, you may be tempted to use diet meals that are already prepared.  You are better off to skip this option and eat regular meals that you enjoy, but with smaller portions.

The secret to losing weight is to consume less calories and exercise.  Many times, diets fail because people either get so hungry that they go on a binge, or they actually get weak and cannot exercise.  No dieting meals include those that are nutritious and offer you foods from the entire food pyramid.

You have probably heard about the food pyramid.  This is a list of foods that the US Food and Drug Administration recommend a daily allowances.  They include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy.  All of these foods play an important role in our diet.

No dieting meals will include simple carbohydrates, processed foods or foods that are high in fat content.  This is because most of these foods offer little, if any, nutritional value and are high in calories, carbohydrates, sodium or all three.

If you are trying to lose weight, you are better off to cut your portion size of healthy foods instead of using a trendy diet.  Make sure that you consume all of the foods in the food pyramid to stay healthy and include protein in your diet.

When dieting, stay away from the following foods:

  1. Fast foods.  These offer little by way of nutrition and are loaded with calories, carbohydrates, fat and sodium.  Burgers, pizza and other fast foods should be off limits when you are dieting.
  2. Simple carbohydrates.  This consists of cakes, candies, cookies and sweets.  Simple carbohydrates are really empty calories.  They are so high in sugar that they are absorbed quickly and turn to fat.  Stay away from simple carbohydrates when dieting.
  3. Soda.  Soft drinks are usually high in sugar, unless they are diet soft drinks.  Drinking Coca Cola on a daily basis is like consuming liquid sugar.  You get no nutritional value and tons of calories and carbohydrates.

No dieting meals can be simple to prepare.  An example of a good no dieting meal would be a broiled chicken breast that is dressed with herbs, two vegetables such as spinach and carrots and a sugar free gelatin for dessert.  You can also indulge in low fat yogurt and low fat cottage cheese, just be sure to leave out the fruit in the yogurt.

You can eat fruits during your diet; just make sure that you are aware of the carbohydrate grams contained in each fruit.  Many fruits, such as bananas, are high in carbohydrates while others, such as tangerines, are low.  Check both the carbohydrate and calorie content in fruits.  Fruits are still healthier as a dessert than cakes or candies as they are considered complex carbohydrates and do have nutritional value.

Watching what you eat and eating smaller portions is one way that you can enjoy a no dieting meal.  A no dieting meal can also consist of anything that you normally eat, except cutting the portion size in half.  This type of no dieting meal works well for some people.  You will feel hungry at first, but resist the urge to binge as this is detrimental to your diet.
