Low Calorie Desserts

Many people who have been found to be overweight or obese wrongly feel that eating desserts is no longer available to them. This is wrong, unless the physician or dietician has said so. More often than not, people forget the previous words that may have been used.

They are overweight because of excess fat intake, and low calorie burning, that is, while they are using fat rich foods, they are not doing enough to reduce the calories that that fat contains, by exercising or vigorous activity. People who are overweight need to do exercises to burn off those extra calories. In other words, if your weight measured by the BMI Index and girth, is more than normal, you have to, with no choice, opt for low fat, protein rich, foodstuffs, and EXERCISE. Even if you are taking low fat diet, exercise still remains a key to good weight and health.

As you diet, it is not as if you have to forego your favorite foodstuff. All that the physician or dietician is saying is that you must burn your calories that is more than what is required. Yes, you can have desserts which are of low calories.

There are a whole lot of low calories foodstuffs at nearly the departmental stores. Check the nutrition tables in them and the calories. Add these up and you end up say with more calories than intended, then all you have to do is to do a little more exercise to burn off those excess calories.

Actually, today, medical practitioners have come around to the view that you can use eat foods with sugar as long as you maintain your diet based on the calorific intake that has been given to you. Even diabetic patients can use these. This is also part of some of the dietary restrictions for diabetics.

You can eat your favorite dessert provided you make it small portions, instead of sugar, use low calorie sweeteners.

These make food taste just as if normal sugar has been added to it. They have no calories, and as far as fat or carbohydrates are concerned, they don’t count. That helps you to make your favorite dessert.

Some of the calorie sweeteners that one uses in desserts that are approved by the US FDA are Saccharin, Aspartame, acesulfame potassium, which can be used for cooking. Sucralose is the latest to be added to the list of low calorie or no-calorie sweeteners. Another low-calorie sweetener is acesulfame potassium, also called acesulfame-K.

Sucralose is the latest to be added to this low or no calorie sweeteners. If you are the type of person who just loves to cook, remember that these can be used as substitutes for sugar, which while allowing you to enjoy your food, also do not give you calories that you have to watch out for. The best course of course would be take into confidence your dietician and with their go ahead, just head for the kitchen to make that dessert. This author would not mind receiving a sample!
