Does Alli Really Work?

Alli is the change that your life needs. They claim that if you are ready to eat right, exercise, etc, it can help you to lose 50% more weight than you would with diet and exercise alone. So what do they mean by this? They mean if you are ready to cut out all fat from your diet, including good fats which you actually need to lose weight, you can lose weight with Alli.

And typically speaking, people lose 5-10% of their body weight not necessarily in fat in a year. That’s about 20 pounds max if you weigh 200 pounds, 30 pounds if you weigh 300. Really, you should be losing that percentage of weight in a considerably shorter amount of time. But what do they use to become the first and only FDA approved over the counter diet pill on the market?

Orlistat-orlistat is a prescription grade fat blocker. It has been used in both prescription Xenical and over the counter Alli to promote weight loss. Unfortunately, it comes with quite a few potentially embarrassing side effects such as severe and sudden diarrhea for example, and it does not differentiate between good and bad fats, good you need to actually lose weight. Study participants typically lose about 5-10% of body weight in the space of a year, which is small.

We would obviously not recommend this product. It will not give you the results you want or need, and wearing adult diapers around because you think that you are going to lose 5-10% in a year, which you should be losing in 1-2 months on a healthy diet and exercise plan is not acceptable.

Now of course, it can motivate you to avoid fatty foods. That is not a bad thing, if you are actually willing to go on a no fat diet. But honestly speaking, it’s not a motivating factor when it comes to excess sugars and other foods, and it can definitely go overboard. So all in all, it’s not complete or worth it.
