Can Procedure Freeze Away Fat?

Traditional liposuction has been a name everybody knows about. Even if you’ve lived in a barn your whole life, chances are you’ve learned about liposuction. And while there are many alternatives introducing themselves, such as lunchtime lipo, none seem to match lipo’s effectiveness. And some like lunchtime lipo have actually been known to cause more infections and side effects or just as many as traditional lipo. Sure they don’t require incisions or surgery. But there are plenty of complications. But with so many advanced in modern technology, they have to come up with something, right?

That’s where a new procedure called cryolipolysis comes in. They are calling it the new revolution and the completely surgery free alternative to traditional liposuction. If you struggle despite your best efforts to diet and exercise and behave yourself, this may be the thing for you. If you fear or prefer not to undergo traditional surgical procedures, which take healing and time out of your everyday life, cryolipolysis is the one for you.

They talk about a small machine that draws a certain section of skin into the machine with a vacuum like device, specifically targeting the fat just below the skin, not the skin itself. It works to freeze these, causing fat cell death, and it is referred to as “the non invasive selective destruction of the fat layer.” Nobody has ever used this idea before. Most have used heat to burn more fat, because heat is scientifically proven in many ways to burn fat.

With cryolipolysis, they have found that so far, according to limited tests and customer experiences, it takes about 2 to 3 months to see maximum results. The results are by no means immediate. This is not like botox, which takes 1 month and the results are undeniable. The actual fat loss could be attributed to many different lifestyle changes, seasonal changes, or other circumstances in that 2-3 month span of time. By all accounts, the results are nowhere near as dramatic as traditional liposuction.

This procedure traditionally costs, even in its exploratory stages, about $700 per procedure. You can go back to work the next day, and you could do it on your lunch break. Any follow up treatments are $500 per area of use. The number of treatments you supposedly have to use depend on how many pounds and inches you want to lose, and depending on the number of treatments, it can actually end up being more expensive than traditional lipo. It is still questionable at best, and it will remain so it would seem. But especially with the cost, while the lack of surgery may seem appealing, I would look for more guaranteed results.
