Does Green Tea Fat Burner Really Work?

Created by Applied Nutrition, the Green Tea Fat Burner is found in just about every major retailer in terms of retailers such as GNC, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid, etc. They claim to have if we recall it right, the power of 50 cups of green tea in one. That much really be 50 cups of weak green tea considering that could be anywhere from 50-100mg of caffeine per cup, and that much caffeine would cause serious problems.
But anyway, they claim it will curb your appetite and burn fat even though green tea doesn’t technically suppress appetite. Either way, they don’t actually have the right amounts of anything, and as compared to the 50 cups of green tea they describe, they have 100mg total of green tea in general, not enough to actually promote weight loss results.
Ingredients Used
Chromium-meant to control and regulate blood sugar levels to keep them from randomly spiking and then falling, chromium has been used successfully in combination with certain other ingredients to promote weight loss. However, on its own the effect is minor at best. It generally requires about 200mcg.
Green tea-a thermogenic form of caffeine, it is also rich in antioxidants like EGCG. However, one should keep in mind that it requires at least 400mg of 50% caffeine considering the fact that caffeine is the actual fat burning component
Natural caffeine-It has been shown to produce a powerful thermogenic effect in the body if used in the right amounts. However, it also comes with the classic side effects of caffeine.
Advantra-Z-a patented form of the ever popular synephrine, this has been proposed to be an effective alternative to ephedrine without the side effects, in part because it uses the cousin of ephedra.
Citrus aurantium-a formula including the active ingredient known as synephrine, this has been pushed as the alternative to ephedra. However, in this diluted form, you don’t necessarily get the powerful effects you are looking for. It would depend in part on the concentration of synephrine actually in the ingredient listing
Betaine-it has been used in the preservation of lean muscle tissue, which can lead to a higher metabolism and more defined appearance in weight loss
Bladderwrack-rich in iodine, this has been said to be good for the thyroid. However, unless you have a thyroid disorder, it won’t make a big difference, and if you do, you need medical help, not iodine.
Cayenne-cayenne pepper is something found in the common kitchen. However, it has also commonly been used as a mild thermogenic fat burning agent
Eleuthero-not a true ginseng at all, eleuthero does not have the classic ginsenosides. However, it can still promote a potential fat burning effect and energy if used in the right amounts.
Ginger root-generally used to calm stomach upset, it does not necessarily directly control or promote weight loss.
Gotu kola-a mild antibacterial, antiviral, anti inflammatory, anti-ulcerogenic, anxiolytic, cerebral tonic, circulatory stimulant, diuretic, nerine, and vulnerary, gotu kola does everything it seems but promote real weight loss, and it certainly causes some side effects
Guarana-used as a natural energy supplement, it is not effective in actually promoting weight loss without both damiana and yerba mate
Licorice-it has been known to soothe an upset stomach and alleviate diarrhea. But it does not actually promote weight loss.
Yerba mate-used as a natural Brazilian energy supplement, it is not effective in promoting weight loss without both guarana and damiana.
Conclusion
The Green Tea Fat Burner has some of the right ingredients yes. But it doesn’t have the right amounts. It has small proprietary blends, and even when they do reveal the amounts, they don’t actually have the right amounts needed to promote weight loss. So we would definitely recommend using something else.
