Does Qnexa Really Work?

Qnexa
Qnexa is a newly introduced prescription option that is meant to help you to lose weight and achieve better results. They use two major prescriptions used in the past, which they say will significantly increase possible weight loss results. But of course, you have to wonder. We have seen prescriptions in the past, such as Xenical/Alli, which were not what we would consider to be clinically proven. In fact, considering the extreme requirements, we would consider them proven to slow weight loss results. Others come with such severe side effects, and they often require that you have no obesity related medical conditions, which is ironic at best. But interestingly enough, on July 15, 2010, Qnexa was rejected by the FDA board of approval. So the question is why? Does Qnexa work, and why was it rejected if it does work? Actually, it is interesting to note that the FDA board agreed unanimously that Qnexa can work.

Ingredients Used

Phentermine-Phentermine is easily one of the most popular prescriptions used. It has been seen in the over the counter phen fen, which was of course banned. And it has been see on its own in doses ranging from less than 10mg up to 37.5mg in some of the most popular options. But it has been associated with a number of side effects even including heart valve damage, suicide, depression, anxiety, and increased suicidality, which is why it cannot be used in anybody with certain medical conditions, including essentially any and all obesity related conditions. Phentermine is still around we would say because it was first approved in the 1950’s. Every form of Phentermine introduced since then has either been banned or never achieved FDA approval in the first place.

Topiramate-commonly used as an anti seizure medication, some have found that it actually increases incidence of seizures. With this medication, it has been recently introduced as a possible weight loss medication. But studies are still questionable. If it does promote weight loss at all, they don’t actually know how it works. But they do know that it has caused a marked increase in suicidality and many other side effects that many products have failed to achieve approval with.

Conclusion

We would not recommend using Qnexa. When it comes to Qnexa, you will find that there are many other products like it that have been rejected before due to serious side effects. They are no exception to this, nor should they be. There are other companies trying to create similar products. But realistically speaking, it was not approved for a reason. They unanimously agreed and we agree that it definitely does work judging by the studies. But the side effects simply aren’t acceptable, and it’s not conducive to a product that would provide you with what we would require to buy.
