Maintenance of your Treadmill Exercise Equipment

Now that you have made a substantial investment in buying the best suited treadmill, you need to take proper care of it. It is relieving to note that many of the latest exercise equipments such as the exercise equipment treadmill are designed in such a way that they do not require much attention. If you can spare a couple of minutes every month for the upkeep of your equipment you can maintain it as brand new forever.

Sweat

Once you finish the exercise, you should swab off any sweat from the treadmill using a dry towel. Perspiration is corrosive in nature and in the long run it can spoil the belt of the treadmill exercise equipment. Sweat makes the belt slippery which makes it unsafe or anyone planning for a workout on it, after your turn.

Dirt

Dust and grime might impede the electronic board and obstruct the free movement of the belt. For this reason, it is advisable that the treadmill exercise equipment is properly cleaned once every week; dust from the beneath the belt and the belt itself can be removed by using a clean dry cloth while the electronic board can be easily cleaned using a cloth that is just moist but make sure that the cloth is not soaked wet. In addition, desist from using furniture polish or products like Endust on your treadmill exercise equipment.

Once in two or three months, the hood of the machine should be carefully removed to mop off specks of dust and dirt, which might have collected inside.

Upkeep of the Belt

Monthly check up to ensure correct alignment and tightness of the belt is also recommended. The belts of new machines might slacken after the initial few uses. The screws for firming up the belts are right at the rear of the machine; however make sure that the screw is not tightened up too much. Sometimes a slight turn might be more than enough. Pull the belt back into position gently, if it is out of line. Bear in mind that in case you face any difficulty in tightening or realigning the belt, it is better to seek the service of the manufacturer or the fitness store from where you purchased your treadmill exercise equipment.

A good number of new treadmill machines do not call for belt lubrication; hence lubrication of the belt is needed only if the manufacturer has specifically asked for it. Normally, in such cases, the manufacturers themselves sell kits with instructions and other accessories you might require to complete the task.

Maintenance of your treadmill is not that complex and proper care of the equipment will considerably enhance the life of the machine. In case you are not sure about the maintenance procedures of your treadmill, get in touch with the manufacturer for any further information.
