Using a chin ups bar correctly

Few of us will think back to memories of gym class with fondness.  Even if we are not the person the dodge balls were always thrown out, odds are we are not the person who could do things like climb the robe or perform the appropriate number of chin-ups that the instructor required.    Maybe later in life we regret being the weakling or have decided to commit ourselves to a fitness program.  Because of this you may have no decided to reacquaint yourself with the old nemesis of the chin-up bar.

Using a chin up bar correctly is not as difficult as many people think it is.   Not only is it easy to use, the exercises on the bar can be varied to give you a good workout that improves your upper body strength over all.   More surprisingly, in an era where other forms of exercise equipment can cost hundreds of dollars, the chin up bar should not break the budget, takes little technical knowledge to install and does not take up a lot of space once it is installed.   Of course, if you live near a local park with a chin up bar that is high enough for you to use, you can skip the installation procedure, although you may get some strange looks if you go at times of the day the park is likely to be crowded.

To use a chin-up bar correctly, do not worry if you cannot perform a proper chin-up.  If you have forgotten the proper procedure for performing a chin up, you use your arms to bring your chin to the top of the bar and then bring yourself back down again.  This should be done as many times as possible.   However, this works well only if you have good upper body strength to begin with.  If your goal is to start out and you cannot perform this maneuver, instead of hanging start out with a chair and bring yourself up slowly.

Another way to use a chin up bar correctly is to increase your overall endurance.   As odd as it may seem, increasing endurance is a test of endurance itself.  In a normal chin-up routine the point is to do it as quickly as possible, but to build endurance bring your chin up to the bar slowly and come back down just as slowly.    Not everyone can do this right away, so do not be discouraged.     If you fail to do the chin up, the next step is lowering one of your arm while holding on to the bar, shake that arm for a few seconds then switch arms.

The exercises listed above will help you on your way to using a chin-up bar correctly, but they are not the only exercises that can be done on this simple piece of exercise equipment.  And if you forget about it or decide that you no longer need to use a chin up bar correctly or otherwise any more, it is just as easy to remove as it was to install.
