Energy Breathing Technique

Most of us do not pay attention to how we are breathing when we are exercising, but exercise breathing techniques can be used to help the body process oxygen more efficiently, or in the case of some exercise such as weightlifting we use an incorrect breathing technique when performing the exercise that reduces in increased efficiency and does not enable us to benefit from the exercise as much as we otherwise might have.

Now that we have established that an important breaching technique is important when you do an exercise such as running, the next thing we need to know is how to breathe to decrease the burn and enable us to run for the maximum distance.   The technique used will actually take more time to describe than it will be to do.   The added benefit is that this technique prevents against other conditions that result from improper breathing techniques.

In order to maintain the amount of oxygen you need while running or jogging long distances, you start by breathing twice in through the nose, and once out through the mouth.  Try it, it's easy, but it works best when you are actually running.

Jogging is an aerobic exercise that many people use for its cardiovascular benefits, but weightlifters should be concerned with proper exercise breathing techniques as well.   Although weightlifting does not place the same demands on the heart as does running or jogging, the muscles cannot do the job you are asking of them without a steady supply of oxygen in the bloodstream.

There are two commonly used techniques when performing a weight lifting exercise, and one of them is incorrect – it is not so much a technique as a natural reaction.  When performing a weightlifting exercise do not hold your breath while working with the weights.  It is preferable instead to breathe freely to ensure that the body has a constant supply of oxygen for the muscles to use.    A variant on this technique is to inhale when lifting the weights above your head and exhale when bringing it down.   The important thing to remember is to breathe in a manner that will not leave you short of breath prematurely in other areas.

If a you  have access to a trainer as you would in a gym, he can guide you through what you need to know to make sure you are using the breathing techniques properly for the exercise that you are doing.  In most cases, inhaling or exhaling in a special manner is not required unless it is an exercise designed to test your endurance.

Now if you came here looking for breathing exercises of the type used in mediation, I am sorry to disappoint you, but at least you will know what to do the next time you go out for a jog or pick up a pair of weights, and isn't that a relief?   Well, these breathing exercise techniques are different than what you would use as exercising breathing techniques, but you get the idea.
