WHICH EXERCISE FIRST

So, you've decided to start a workout routine!  Great, soon you'll be on  your way to looking better and having more energy to go about your daily tasks.  You've made plans to change your diet accordingly, and you've purchased a water bottle to make sure you do not suffer from dehydration to your workouts.  It seems that you've got everything all set to go and then you hit the problem of which exercise to do first.

It may take a while to come up with a solution, but fortunately, the question of which exercise to do first can be answered, or rather the question of which type of of exercise to do first.  Workouts generally consist of the stretching period, the warm up, the cool down, and then a series of extra stretches to loosen the muscles and prevent soreness.   When you start any exercise routine, before getting to the heart of the matter be sure to stretch the muscles that will be worked in the group, or if you are feeling more generous or health conscious perform stretches for all the muscles in the body.

If you thought that some other exercise should be performed first, perhaps one that has more direct benefit, you would be incorrect.  Not putting this is the first exercise you can lead to problems with the workout, strained muscles and in severe cases where things go terribly wrong a trip to the emergency room.

Now the answer to the question of which exercise to perform first, we should find out how much of the workout time should be devoted to them.  Fortunately, taking time to stretch the muscles of the body should take no more than one or two minutes and then the person can move on to the warm up period where the perform the chosen workout at a lower pace to let their body know that a workout will soon be coming.     Then after the warm up you get to the heart of the matter and burn the most calories until towards the end when you prepare the body for a change in your activity level by performing the workout at a reduce pace.  Much like a workout should begin with stretching exercises, ending the workout causes the muscles to relax and prevents tension.

See, the question of which exercise to perform first really was not difficult.   Now, if you meant the exercises that are actually part of the workout program you have chosen once the exercises are done, that may be a little more difficult to answer.   But ideally they should be ones that do not require the most strenous activity and give the body time to warm up.  That is, the  exercises that use the least energy should be first after the stretches and should be included as the warm up in your workout.   Just remember when considering which exercises to do first, to loosen up those muscles.   Not only will it prevent soreness, it will also increase flexibility.
